VIBEACON is an Cisco Proprietary for beacons. An access point configured as viBeacon can interleave and transmit up to five beacons of the IBEACON format.
Status: This field indicates whether the profile is enabled or not. The field is automatically enabled when you make changes to the dialog box and click Save.
Label: This is the only field that is not propagated to the beacons. It is only for your reference.
Power (dBm): Beacon signal range or the
- -12dBm gives an approximate range of 20m,
- +4dBm an approximate range of 70m
Adv TxPower (dBm): This is the expected RSSI at a distance of 1m from the beacon. The value is usually between -60 and -70 to indicate immediate proximity at 1m.
Adv Interval (ms): Time between consecutive beacon broadcasts. Usually between 100 to 750ms.
UUID: Universally Unique Identifier. <Possible Values>
Major: Numbers assigned to your iBeacons in order to identify them with greater accuracy than just with the UUID. It is an unsigned integer value between 0 and 65535.
Minor: Numbers assigned to your iBeacons in order to identify them with greater accuracy than just with the UUID. It is an unsigned integer value between 0 and 65535.
Note: The downside of this profile type is that the AP can no longer scan for other beacons, and acts only as a transmitter and not a receiver.
