Pre-Migration Instructions for CMX Cloud Data Center Migration - October 23

Is this another migration?

No. The previous migration on Oct 9th was not performed and is now rescheduled to Oct 23rd. All CMX services are operating as normal in our existing data center. In preparation for our migration on Oct 23rd we require following changes in your network configuration. Please review the new actions below. What will change during CMX Cloud Data Center Migration?

IP addresses for cmxcisco.com will change from current IP addresses to new IP addresses.

Current IP addresses

  • 128.107.18.198
  • 128.107.19.190 

New IP addresses

  • 54.71.8.98
  • 54.148.174.163 

Please note that these new IP addresses are different from the IP addresses (54.71.109.211 and 54.71.107.190) communicated for Oct 9th migration.

What actions do I need to take for this migration?

Action #1 WLC Changes

CMX Presence Customers: No changes required

CMX Connect (Mobility Express Customers): No changes required until after migration. An email will be sent to you detailing pre-auth ACL actions on October 24th after migration is complete

CMX Connect (WLC Customers):

Change required:

Changes on WLC using IP based pre-auth ACL:

    • Go to Security -> Access Control Lists -> New/Edit Rule
    • Add access to send/receive traffic to/from new IP for cmxcisco.com listed above

Example

Changes on WLC using DNS based pre-auth ACL:

No changes required if you are using a domain name for pre-auth ACL for example:

When should I make WLC changes?

Before October 23rd.

Should I remove my current IP addresses?

No. Please keep the IP addresses 128.107.18.198 and 128.107.19.190. 

Action #2 Firewall Changes

CMX Presence and CMX Connect Customers: 

If you have current IP addresses (128.107.18.198 and 128.107.19.190) in your firewall to access CMX Cloud make these changes:

Apply DNS name (preferred): Configure your firewall to allow access to cmxcisco.com and data.cmxcisco.com

or

Apply new IP addresses: If you prefer IP addresses instead of DNS in your firewall, add the following four IP addresses to your access list:

    • cmxcisco.com
      • 54.71.8.98
      • 54.148.174.163
    • data.cmxcisco.com
      • 52.39.31.222
      • 54.148.178.128

Please note that these new IP addresses are different from the IP addresses (54.71.109.211, 54.71.107.190, 54.71.24.57 and 54.71.97.195) communicated for Oct 9th migration.

When should I make my firewall changes?

Before October 23

Should I remove my current IP addresses?

No. 

Should I remove the previously communicated IP addresses?

You can remove these IP addresses from WLC ACL and firewall at your convenience. These IP addresses are no longer required.

    • 54.71.109.211 
    • 54.71.107.190
    • 54.71.24.57
    • 54.71.97.195
